James’ Beach opened in September of 1996, a ½ block from world famous Venice Beach and the Pacific ocean, taking over the location of the West Beach Café. James’ Beach immediately gained a reputation for great food, drinks, and wine plus marvelous people watching.
Los Angeles Times food critic, Irene Virbila reviewed that the straightforward cuisine, friendly service, and beach ambiance made James’ Beach “as comfortable as a favorite sweater.”
James' Beach offers a variety of private dining options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Accommodations range from an intimate dinner party for 10 to a larger affair of up to 300 guests.

quintessential venice ambiance. great beer selection. grilled mahi mahi tacos are phenomenal and consistent. given the authentic and unassuming vibe i think it is kind of tacky that they call out the fact that they were featured in a movie.
An old fave, James Beach maintains that beach cool vibe with a great drinks and food menu. Been coming here for years and love it! ...The crowd has changed a bit over the years but the vibe is the same and we Love. Love. Love.
The service was amazing, food beyond delicious and the white sangria was quite refreshing! We tried the fried calamari which was enough for 4 and was yummy then we tried the "famous" Mahi Mahi tacos and the shrimp tacos they where both serves with garnishes and tortillas! ...Over all this is a place to add to the "cravings" list!
LOVED this place. The atmosphere was fantastic, the food was great and the service was even better. The decor of the restaurant is really nice, with little beach shorts hanging like lamps from the ceiling and really beautiful lighting... Loved all of it and was super glad I squeezed it into my time in Venice.
James' Beach is popping! We came for dinner and stayed to drink. The DJ was great and the music was perfect for the setting. The service is stellar. We went with the nightly special and the food was off the hook.
